What is the difference between a footprint and a shape?

I’ve heard mention of ‘footprint’ in the w3c community minutes but I would like to find out what that is. Shapes are in shacl or shex and I found documents on those. Thanks

If I’ve understood footprint correctly it means shapes (to validate and verify that data is in the shape you and others can collaborate on) + a path that applications can store data to.

I don’t know if there’s a spec or anything more formal on it.
