I would like to know how this is applicable in practice (At least among the solid apps, if not for the whole web)?
The protocol that makes this possible is WebID-OIDC, which is based on OpenID Connect.

To experience it in practice, you may want to register a Pod, e.g. at https://solid.community and then log in to some solid apps with it.
Good first thing to do is visit and join the welcome group at https://welcome.solid.community/
