Welcome to the Solid Forum, please introduce yourself here. Great to have you on board

Hi Everyone, I am Haithem. I am an electrical engineer not a software developer but I am not shy to occasionally take the challenge to build my own apps and host my own data.

I believe privacy is power and power is freedom.

I like the concept of solid and wondering what can be done at this moment in time with its current development. I posted in app development section in this forum what i intend to use solid for as first application. Let me now your thoughts. here the link New to solid, what makes sense to do and use solid for

Hi everyone — I’m Tolgay, a software developer and artist based in Türkiye.

I came to Solid through a project I’ve been building around consumer consent and preference data — the idea that the act of consuming is one of the most expressive things people do, and yet it’s the one domain where that expression
has been quietly taken from us and turned into behavioral data owned by someone else. Solid feels like the right foundation for changing that.

Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hi everyone! I’m Damien, founder of Zero Limit (SASU), a small EU-based company focused on privacy-first tools. I’ve been building PodCal, a scheduling tool (think Calendly alternative) + Calendar on top of Solid Pods. Excited to be part of this community — looking forward to learning from everyone here and contributing where I can. I’ll be at SoSy 2026 in London as well!

Sounds great!. I’d like to invite you to a present your work at an upcoming meeting of the Solid Practitioners. We meet online three times a month to promote collaboration, cross-fertilization, and skill-sharing between those creating Solid apps for end users. We also serve as a way to let the community know who is working on what. See more about the Practitioners here - repo. DM me to schedule a presentation or just show up at a meeting.

Thank you @jeffz - Brilliant, I will certainly have a look at how to join the call and DM you for scheduling a presentation.

Hi everyone! I’m Todd, based in Wisconsin, USA. My background is in online community strategy and consulting — I help B2B organizations and nonprofits build and optimize digital communities, and I lead a network of independent community consultants called the Community Consultants Collective.

I’m not a developer, so I come at Solid from a different angle: I’m interested in what data sovereignty and decentralized architectures mean for how communities are structured and governed. A lot of the platforms communities currently depend on extract value from members while giving them little control over their own data or participation history. That feels like a structural problem, not just a policy one.

I’ve been watching Solid for a while and I’m here to learn, ask probably-naive questions, and think through whether and how these ideas could reshape the community platforms I configure and recommend to clients. Looking forward to the conversation!

Hi everyone,

I’m Fatih Koçkesen, a solo full-stack developer based in Istanbul, Turkey.

Solidus (solidus.network) — an open source Digital Identity and Data Wallet project runs on its native blockchain deeply inspired by the Solid protocol and the vision of decentralized personal data sovereignty.

The name is a deliberate reference to the Byzantine solidus — the most trusted reserve currency of the medieval world, minted right here in Constantinople. We believe personal data deserves that same quality: stable, sovereign, and owned entirely by the individual.

The idea for Solidus first came to me back in late 2018 — right around the time this forum was born. It has been a long road, but the project is now live and actively in development at solidus.network.

Our first product is decentralized verification (verify.solidus.network) — a KYC layer built on DIDs and Verifiable Credentials that lets people prove who they are without handing their data to a third party. From there, the roadmap expands across a full ecosystem of services:

• identity.solidus.network — DID management and credentials wallet
• wallet.solidus.network — multi-chain cryptocurrency wallet
• pod.solidus.network — personal Solid data pod management
• app.solidus.network — native mobile and desktop application
• social.solidus.network — federated communications via ActivityPub and Matrix
• data.solidus.network — consent-based personal data marketplace
• gov.solidus.network — on-chain governance platform

All services are tied together by a single Solidus WebID. User data lives in their pod, not on our servers. That’s not a feature — it’s the whole point.

The Solid protocol is the backbone of the pod layer. User data lives in their pod on blockchain, not on our servers.

In 2021, I had the chance to share this idea with Sir Tim Berners-Lee during one of the monthly Solid gatherings. His encouragement that day meant a great deal and helped keep the project alive through some difficult years.

Looking forward to connecting with this community as we build.

Welcome, @tnilson! I also invite you (and all reading this) to come to a Practitioners meeting (see my post two above this one). The Practitioners have as a core goal the development of good practices in terms of community relations and adoption of Solid to match community needs. We’d love to have your perspective.
