I had never heard of Hubzilla and Zot and it sounds kind of like Solid, but I don’t see any mention of json-ld or linked data.

Zot is a federation protocol used by both Hubzilla and Zap. Both can also federate over ActivityPub, which does use JSON, although as discussed in the Solid vs. ActivityPub thread, some implementations use it with LD and some don’t (yet).
